My top priority in the therapy room is authenticity. I hope to build personal connections with my clients and to meet you with an appreciation for your individuality and the unique circumstances of your life. I believe that all people are already pushing to become the best versions of themselves, my hope is to walk alongside you in that journey and to help make that process a little bit easier. I recognize that each client’s needs are different, therefore, I am eager to listen and understand your needs and to adapt my approaches according to how I can be the most helpful. Whether that is through building your emotional or relational skills, deciding whether or not to make a change, processing experiences from your past or present, or through developing a better understanding of yourself and your relationships.
I integrate a variety of methods depending on what works best for each client. If you are in need of building skills, I can provide exercises from Dialectical Behavioral Therapy. If you are struggling with making a decision in your life, I incorporate Motivational Interviewing to help you determine which direction fits your goals best. If you want to work with your others to improve your relationships, I will focus our attention on understanding and communicating each person’s needs through Emotion Focused Therapy. And if you hope to better understand yourself, I can help you do so by focusing on your thoughts through Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, your many contrasting needs or previous traumas through Internal Family Systems Theory, and understanding the way your surrounding environment shapes your experience through Narrative Therapy with an emphasis on sociocultural history. Throughout any of these approaches, I make it my priority to work alongside my clients collaboratively to move them toward a happier, healthier life.
I graduated with a degree in Psychology from Ithaca College, in New York, and a Masters in Professional Mental Health Counseling from Lewis & Clark College in Portland. Between those experiences, I have worked with people experiencing suicidal thoughts, anxiety, depressive, and bipolar disorders, as well as anger management concerns, serious and persistent mental illnesses, addiction, trauma, and many with multiple concerns.
Outside of counseling, I enjoy spending my time with my partner and our new dog. We spend our days hiking and going on trips to the coast or along the gorge, cooking and exploring new recipes, or just relaxing at home. I’m originally from the east coast, but I’ve been in Oregon for 4 years now and thrilled to continue living and working in the community here.
