I am a licensed massage therapist with over 20 plus years of experience in the field. I have a strong background in science and allopathic medicine along with decades of studying multiple alternative modalities.
In 1995 I helped establish the massage therapy program at St. John’s Regional Hospital in Springfield, MO where I worked in a preventative medicine department for several years before going into private practice.
While working as a massage therapist in private practice in New Mexico my interest grew in alternative methods of healing. I became a certified Reiki Master, as well as a Certified Hypnotherapist in 2005.
After moving to Portland in 2006 my studies continued as I become a certified Watsu practitioner in 2010. I owned and operated Sage Healing Pool for almost 7 years. This modality is a powerful yet subtle way of accessing many layers of one’s being. I began to study and explore how trauma manifests differently for people and became comfortable holding space in that way.
As I began to work with individuals in a more holistic approach I wanted to expand my skill set so I become a certified coach in 2014 with the World Coach Institute. In 2017/2018 I studied at the Hakomi Institute in Portland, OR. This helped further expand my skill set as I became more knowledgeable in trauma, and different forms of wounding. In 2018 I studied with Cynthia Price in Seattle in MABT (Mindful Awareness Body-Oriented Therapy). This is a modality that focuses specifically on trauma utilizing several exercises that expand body awareness addressing disassociation. The technique is basic yet profound. It can be done with the client fully clothed, or can be integrated into a regular massage session. If someone is not ready to receive touch this modality can also be done by the patient touching specific areas of their own body with the guidance of the therapist.
One of my favorite past times is to be outdoors in nature, preferably in the sun, with my partner, family and loved ones. Also singing and playing instruments with other people brings joy to my heart. In light of creating new past times I hope to learn to crochet in 2019.
