My Bio
I came to counseling after a career as a scientific researcher. I always felt like I wanted to help people and give back to the community in a more direct way, and I love that I am doing that now, as a mental health therapist.
I believe in the fundamental worth and resilience of people and value clients’ strengths as well as cultural, gender, and sexual diversity in my practice. I treat therapy as a collaboration between myself and you, and you are the expert on your feelings, thoughts, experience, and therapeutic goals.
I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), and Somatic Experiencing (SE) in my practice and am working toward a certificate as a practitioner of SE.
I have a Master of Social Work degree from Portland State, a Master of Science in Developmental Psychology from the University of Oregon, and I have spent the last 11 years working with people with chronic mental illnesses, including Complex PTSD, Bipolar Disorder, Schizophrenia, and Anxiety Disorders. I look forward to working with you.
